Renee Monique Louvierre-Mitchell

Renee Monique Louvierre-Mitchell, loving referred to as “Nae-Nae”, was embraced by the welcoming arms of God on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the age of 39. (Renee thought 40 was “old” so she will be pleased to be eternally “young”). As a master level social worker Renee was extremely passionate about equality and worked as an influential community advocate for persons with disabilities for a total of 17 years. Renee enjoyed cooking and baking with her family; especially experimenting with new recipes or creating her own. She loved the water and swimming in pools, lakes, or floating down the river. Watch out if you got Renee on the dance floor! She could dance all night long and had a signature hair whip that only she could rock. The fierce fashionista that she was, Renee had a knack for accessorizing and always looked gorgeous. Renee loved to shop for just about anything, clothes, accessories, gadgets, new technology, candles, tea and was a loyal member of the “Wine of the Month” club. Probably the most enjoyable times for Renee were being surrounded by family and friends. She loved entertaining and everyone was welcome in her home. Many nights were spent sharing food, drinks, laughs, playing games, and Renee made everyone feel like family. The most important aspect of Renee’s life was her family. Surviving her are her husband, Shannon DeWhite Mitchell (whom she referred to as her “Superman”), their three children, Alyssa Monique Mitchell age 20, Genevieve Elizabeth Mitchell age 13, Joseph Riley Mitchell age 3; her mother Margaret “Mickey” Christine Scott, her brother Adam Scott Corbin, sister in law Ashlea Jo Cox, brother in law Sean Francis Mitchell, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Renee was preceded in death by her father, Glyn Robert Louvierre, “Paw Paw” Sanders Joseph Louvierre, uncle Kevin Blaze Scott, cousin Timothy Levi Jackson, father in law Francis Lloyd Mitchell, grandmother Genevieve Irene Mitchell and grandmother Patricia Scott. A celebration of Renee’s life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Kalkaska Church of Christ, 1725 W. Kalkaska Rd NW, Kalkaska, MI 49646. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm and the funeral service will be held at 12:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery, 3575 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684.
