Norman T. Sieting

Norman Thomas Sieting, 78, of Rapid City, Michigan passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2025, in the home that he had built surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and grandsons. Norman was born on June 16th,1946 in Kalkaska, Michigan, to the late Clayton and Edith (Krepps) Sieting. Norman graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1964 and then attended Ferris State University where he earned an accelerated degree in Mechanical Drafting and graduated in 1966. Norman and Carol (Scott) were united in marriage on June 18th, 1966 in Rapid City, Michigan. Norman was drafted into the Army in December 1966 and served until 1969 as a Military Policeman. Norman worked for Wayne Wire Cloth for over 45 years and was an integral part of its development and growth. Norman loved to work with his hands. He was a master with wood and metal, building furniture and wood works, trailers, farming gadgets and he loved forestry. Norman loved working with wood the most, from cutting down the tree, cutting up firewood, to milling and plaining the wood to use for furniture and projects. Norman also loved inventing timesaving gadgets for the small farmer, and was a published author in Farm Show magazine. Norman was always ready to help a friend or neighbor in need and he treasured his friendships and family. Norman loved feeding his birds, bunnies, and deer that flocked to his country home. Norman also loved gardening and helping his devoted wife, of almost sixty years, to harvest, can, store, and share all of their produce. Norman loved teaching his grandsons all that he knew and helped to make them the men they are today. He also enjoyed spending time and playing with his great-grandson. Norman is survived by his loving wife Carol (Scott), two children; Jennifer Sieting of Kalkaska, MI; Heather Ziegler of Kalkaska, MI. Norman was the proud grandfather of two grandsons; Lawson Michael Ziegler of Traverse City, MI, and Aidan Scott-Thomas Ziegler of Kalkaska, MI. Norman was also the proud great-grandfather to Aries Michael Ziegler. Norman is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Lavina Mack of NC, Dennis Sieting of CA, Millie Runkle of AR, and Roger Sieting of Kalkaska. Norman always said that he came into this world quietly and without a fuss and that was the way he wanted to go out. In honoring his wishes, in lieu of a service or memorial condolences or remembrances can be sent to his wife and family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
