Genevieve Georgianna Sieting

Genevieve G. Sieting, 92, of South Boardman, passed away November 14, 2025, at her home. Genevieve was born February 17, 1933 in Blind River, Ontario, Canada to George and Rosanna (Doucet) Gauthier. She was the second oldest of six children raised in what she described as “the bush country” outside the nickel mines. Theirs was a French speaking family, and Genevieve did not learn to speak English until she was nine years old, roughly the same year she experienced her first ride in an automobile. Genevieve immigrated to the U.S. following her marriage to her first husband, Harold J. Osborn, a U.S. Marine who met her in Windsor, Ontario. Together, they had four children: Charles, Jacqueline, Antoinette, and Colette. Harold passed away in 1959. Genevieve later married Glenn M. Sieting, and together they added three more children to the family: Glen, Julie, and Jocelyn. As a mother of seven children, Genevieve was always involved in any available resource to benefit children and their education. She was active in PTA, Band Boosters, Language Clubs, Drama Clubs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, School Board, and the Catholic Church. Despite being a very busy mother, Genevieve was an artist, a musician, and was said to be instantly adept at any craft she took up. She was a partner in the family LLC which refurbished and reopened the Yankee Boy Restaurant in South Boardman. She also worked there to make popular soups, terrific pies and an award-winning carrot cake featured on the menu. Genevieve actively worked at the restaurant until 2016, retiring at the age of 83. Genevieve is survived by her seven children, who all live in the South Boardman area. They are: Charles (Debra) Sieting, Jacqueline (Sieting) Rutherford, Antoinette (Sieting) Bohnett, Colette (Sieting) Hannon, Glen (Sandy) Sieting, Julie (Sieting) Wagenschutz, and Jocelyn (Sieting) Greer. Genevieve was the proud grandmother of sixteen and great-grandmother of twenty-nine. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at Kalkaska Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, with final visitation beginning at 10am, on Saturday, November 22nd at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska. Burial will take place in Boardman Township Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home.
