Ellen Elizabeth Lanigan

Ellen Elizabeth Lanigan, 76, passed away at her home with the love of her life by her side on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Ellen was born to Elizabeth Evans-Tipple and James J. Evans on November 18, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion. As a wife, Ellen exemplified the essence of love in its purest form. Her unwavering commitment to her partner was the cornerstone of their bond, a testament to the depth of her affection. Ellen met the love of her life Timothy Lanigan while he was proudly serving in the United States Coast Guard. They were married in Rochester, New Hampshire on August 16, 1980. Beyond her role as a wife & best friend, Ellen touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her nurturing spirit and genuine care radiated to family, friends, and even strangers alike. In Ellen’s spare time she loved playing card games, her favorites included Garbage, Skip-Bo, and Phase 10. She enjoyed doing the daily word search and watching her favorite Christmas movies on Hallmark. She’d always carve out the time to watch her favorite show though, which was Survivor. On the weekends, Ellen and Tim loved spending time together in the kitchen cooking their favorite meals. She also enjoyed spring and summer nights cuddled around a fire, surrounded by family and friends. When the cold moved in for winter, you could find her enjoying a fire in the fireplace. She loved using Magical Flames to add some excitement to the fires, which would add vibrant colors to the flames. Ellen loved the camaraderie of holiday gatherings, especially Christmas, where she would decorate everything she could, and then enjoy the time with family and friends. Having traveled all across the United States, and living in multiple states, she truly enjoyed the peaceful quiet environment of Northern Michigan for the past 17 years, and the time spent with friends and family. Ellen will be missed by all and remembered as a loving wife, and treasured friend. Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Timothy G. Lanigan; sister Lois (Gerard) Albertine; brothers Norman Evans, and Clinton Evans; close family friends Jeanette (Brad) Swartout; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and their family pets Dasie, Lola, and Domino. She was preceded in death by her parents James J. Evans and Elizabeth Evans-Tipple. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
