Wenona May Cummer, 98, of Fife Lake, passed away on Friday, March 11th of 2022 peacefully at Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City. Wenona was born on October 19th of 1923 in Laquin, Pennsylvania to James Vern Symonds and Mary Ethel Allen. Wenona was the most wonderful mother anyone could ask for. She loved to help others, lending much of her limited free time to all with just about anything. Wenona just couldn’t say no if she was asked for help. She retired from Nelson Metals after 25 years of service. In her spare time, Wenona stayed constantly busy, which included many different hobbies: hunting, fishing, camping, knitting, sewing, scraping and most importantly spending time with her family. Wenona is survived by daughters Vivian Engle and April Kelley; sons Thomas (Cindy) Chapman and Mike (Deb) Cummer; grandchildren: Jimmy, Therese, Steve, Dan, Sandy, Charlene, Lesa, Charlie, Lee, Keith, Josiah, Taletha, Jerry, Tonette and Bucky; over 20 great-grandchildren and over 10 great-great-grandchildren. Wenona was preceded in death by husband Robert Cummer; daughter Judy Hansen; son Dan Potter; stepson Bobby Cummer; siblings: Helen, Harold, Pauline, Grace, Edna, Harry, and Donna. Visitation will take place at Kalkaska Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 18th at 11:00 am, with an additional visitation on Friday from 10:00 am till the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Maple Ridge Living Center of Lake City. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
