Valerie Ann Witowski

March 1, 1940 - December 23, 2014

Valerie A. Witowski, 74, of Bellaire passed away on December 23, 2014. Valerie was born in Dillonvale, Ohio to Stanley Civinski and Julia (Toth) Civinski Greene who both preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Michigan and was an only child. She graduated from Chadsey High School in 1957. Later she married her former husband Gerald J. Witowski Sr. and together they had four wonderful children, Gerald(Sherry) Witowski Jr. of Bellaire, Brian Witowski of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tammy Witowski of Mancelona and Daryl (Cheryl) Witowski of Bellaire. She had seven grandchildren; Christopher, Taryn, Nicolette, Brian Glen, Katy Lynn, Randi and Rachel, seven great grandchildren; Chloe, Tansy, Jordan, Madison, Mitchell, Makala, and Tegan who are all surviving. Later in life when her children were grown she attended the New Life Massage Institute and trained to become a Certified Massage Therapist and shortly began work at Shanty Creek’s newly built summit center in the Health Club. Upon selling her home in Bellaire she resided in Traverse City where she continued with her therapy work until retiring. She then began working as a front desk receptionist at Ethan Allen and also worked as a volunteer at Munson Medical Center in ICU, CCU and surgical waiting unit. She returned to Bellaire to be closer to her family and friends along with her loving companion and friend Richard Kellogg who preceded her in death in 2011. Also surviving is Mark Kellogg whom she always looked upon as her son and he continues to live in Traverse City. Valerie was a guardian for Mark due to his autism and resides in an assisted living program. She always loved being with family and friends, loved being around people and was very active and loved to travel. In Valerie’s own words “I will always love and miss each and every one of you. Think of me with good memories and smile and laugh. A new life will be starting for me and it will be wonderful.” A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held for family and friends at Antrim Community Church in Bellaire Michigan at 11:00AM on Saturday January 3, 2015. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Val's honor to Munson Hospice or Antrim Community Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
