July 21, 1924 - March 11, 2019
Marjorie Jane Cobane, 94, of Kalkaska, Michigan, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019. She was a current resident of Kalkaska, Michigan, where she has lived for the past two years. Previously she resided in Lapeer, Michigan, for approximately 40 years and Garden City, Michigan for over 34 years. Marjorie was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Ernest and Josephine Sevener on July 21, 1924. She married Floyd Maynard Cobane on July 11, 1942. Marjorie’s life-long career was a loving mother, loving wife, and homemaker. She felt family was more important than a career. Her loving husband of 50 years, Floyd, preceded her in death as well as parents and brothers and sister. Marjorie has been a constant companion of her grandson, Sean Dagenhart, who has cared for her in her aging years and became her guardian when it was no longer possible for her to care for herself. She is survived by her loving grandson and guardian, Sean Dagenhart of Kalkaska, her only daughter Kathleen Smith and husband Gordon Smith of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Thomas Maynard Cobane of Providence, Rhode Island, Russell A. Cobane and wife Margaret of Clarkston, Michigan, Norman L. Cobane and wife Peg of Whitestown, Indiana, and grandson Mark Cobane, and remaining brother, Paul Sevener. One of Marjorie’s goals through life was always to return to school to complete her high school education as she had quit high school for marriage. Later in life she returned to adult education and received her high school diploma, which meant a great deal to her. When Kathleen decided to go into the education field, it was through the encouragement of Marjorie and son Sean. Marjorie loved to crochet and knit and was a fantastic cook so she leaves quite a legacy to those who love her. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements made by Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 152 S. Cedar Street, Kalkaska, Michigan. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at East Boardman United Methodist Church, 2080 Boardman Rd SW, South Boardman, MI 49680. Marjorie will be dearly missed by her friends and family, but memories and love are never forgotten.
