Kirk J. Rowe Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kirk Rowe, age 73, of Floyd Midland, MI died of a heart attack in his home in Kalkaska on May 23, 2022. Kirk is survived by his children, Joy (Teddy), Justin (Haley), Jenee (Adam), by his cherished grandchildren, Niles and Kai, by his sisters, JoAnn Phillips, Janet Heath, and Joyce Rowe, and by many loving nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, John Rowe and Eva Histman Rowe and by his eldest sister, Donna Stark. As a young man, Kirk was always involved in 4H, showing horses at the Midland County Fair, and riding in rodeos. Later, he worked as a cook, Saab mechanic, and then became a fiber artist with his wife Kathryn Drescher (deceased). They brought color, warmth, and beauty into their art work and life together. Kirk returned to his love and natural abilities of cooking and serving food when he joined the kitchen staff of Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. He worked for many years between Leelanau Sands and Turtle Creek Casinos. Many folks became family and community to Kirk. His great laugh, excellent hats, knowing smile, and generous heart will be missed. Kirk loved music and sharing music with others. A Service of Remembrance for Kirk Rowe will be held on Sunday, June 5 @ 1:00 PM at the Suttons Bay Congregational Church, 218 W Madison St, Suttons Bay, MI. Flowers welcome. Dad loved color!
