Gary Lee Herbers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gary Lee Herbers, 79, of Kalkaska, MI, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022. Gary was born on December 9, 1942 in Brant, MI to George Edward Herbers and Marie Vincent. Gary retired from Michigan CAT after over 30 years of service. In Gary’s spare time he always kept busy with an assortment of different things. Including being a “crackerjack” mechanic at times. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid sportsman. With good weather, he loved to get out and bike, when winter came, he would still enjoy the outdoors with his passion for skiing. He was also an exceptional teacher that could pass along anything he knew, and Gary had numerous traits worth passing along. These included his honesty, loyalty, kindness, sincerity, and humility. Most importantly Gary was a man of God with a pure and gentle soul. Gary will be missed by many friends and family. Gary is survived by his wife Lynn Herbers, children; Melissa Herbers (Nick Lovrine), Wendy Greshko (Justin), Bridget Herbers (Matthew Fisher), grandchildren; Paxton, Kalina, Aletheia, Lily, and Emet, many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Peggy (Brad) Beal, brothers-in-law Wayne Trombley and Bill Springstead and son-in-law Tim Kwiatkowski. Gary was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Marie Herbers, sister-in-law Patty Springstead, and Dorothy Luhrs. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska. Gathering will begin at 10:00am at St. Mary of the Woods until the start of mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
