Edward Joseph Krause
June 27, 1929 - March 25, 2019
Edward Joseph Krause, 89, of Kingsley, passed away on March 25, 2019 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids from complications following a stroke. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Detroit, to the late Leo and Clara (Bolda) Krause. Ed served his country in the US Army following high school. He was a jack of all trades, but especially enjoyed woodworking and building anything with his hands. Prior to moving north, Ed had built and operated the Nickelodeon Restaurant in Clarkston until 1979. Later that same year he married his wife Donna Darling on November 3, 1979. Together they shared a love of antiques; Ed liked to collect many items including baskets and old bar/restaurant memorabilia. He will be fondly remembered for being a jokester, as well as always saying what he was thinking, no matter what it was. Ed is survived by his wife, whom he loved and adored, his “lovely” Donna; children: Renee (Jeremy) Thon, Andrea (Robert) Campos, Matthew (Jessica), Kevin, Eric Krause; former daughter in law Jamie Krause; grandchildren: Greg, Tyler (LeeAnn), Hannah, Grace, and Ava Thon, and Elizabeth Krause; great grandson Rhett Thon; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, and his best friend Johnny Vanderlind. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Edward Krause, and siblings: Dorothy, Joanie, Robert, Jimmy, and Janet. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
