Dorothy L. Martinson

May 26, 1944 - December 11, 2021

Dorothy l. Martinson, 77, of South Boardman passed away December 11, 2021, at home surrounded by family. Dorothy was born on May 26, 1944, in Grayling to Fred and Martha (Wonsey) Warren. She lived her whole life on the family farm. On October 23, 1965, she married Harold Martinson. They spent 56 wonderful years together. Dorothy for the most part was a stay-at-home mom, raising her children and caring for her mother. Her selflessness led her to be a caregiver for several people. Her love and knowledge of flowers and birds inspired many. She had a huge garden every year and really enjoyed canning in the fall. She loved to crochet and most of the family received something she made. However, her true love was her family. Family get-togethers were always at her house where she enjoyed cooking large meals for the whole gang. Dorothy enjoyed the chaos and chatter that ensued whenever the family was all together. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children Teresa (Ray) Captain, Angela Martinson, and Fred Martinson; grandchildren Sarah Captain, Ashley (Jacob) Cummer, and Alex Martinson; great-grandchildren Skyler, Haiden, Sawyer, Lexi, and Laci. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Martinson; her parents; her brother Colin Warren and an infant brother. Cremation has taken place and she will be interred at the South Boardman Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the family farm in the spring of 2022 for both Harold and Dorothy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
