Donald Victor Moon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald Victor Moon, 87, of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully with family present November 20, 2021. Don was born on September 23, 1934 in Detroit to the late Charles Victor and Sarah Jane (McAllister) Moon. After high school, Don was drafted into the Army and served in Korea. During his military service he received training in plumbing and pipe fitting which led to his career as a licensed Master Plumber. Don received his plumbing license in 1960 and worked in his field for over 45 years. He relocated his business from Detroit to Kalkaska in 1975 and was the only licensed plumber in the county at that time. He operated Moon Plumbing for the next 28 years until his retirement in 2003. In 1999 Don was married to his loving wife Flossie Manley and they enjoyed 22 years of marriage together. He enjoyed working in his yard, helping family members with various projects, attending car shows with his 1929 Ford Model A, and traveling with his family, taking them on many cruises. He loved to spend time with his family and his step children and grandchildren grew to love him deeply. Don was a member of the Peoples Church and previously served on the church’s board for many years. A kind and extremely generous man, Don supported many charities throughout his life. Don is survived by his wife Flossie, step children, William (Jodi) Manley of Dalton City, Illinois, Suzanne (Wayne) Johns of Grayling, Michigan, and Samantha (Greg) Potter of Kalkaska, Michigan, 8 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by a brother Edward Moon of Kalkaska. Don’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at The Peoples Church in Kalkaska. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Donations in Don’s memory may be made to one of his favorite charities, Paws for Purple Hearts, 10201 Old Redwood Hwy, Penngrove, California 94951-9671 or The Peoples Church in Kalkaska. The family is being served by Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
