Ardena Shipp, 83, of Kalkaska, formerly of New Richmond, Ohio passed away February 12, 2022. She was born in Carlisle, Kentucky on July 2, 1938 to the late James and Byra (Baker) Ritchie. Ardena was married to the late Harry Shipp Sr. Ardena retired from the Zimmer Power Station in Moscow, Ohio. She volunteered for years as the mascot of the WLW/WUBE Charity Softball Team that raised money for the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund in the Greater Cincinnati area. Ardena “never met a stranger”, loved to share her pictures of pets and family and was quick to tell a joke (usually R-rated). Ardena is survived by her two sons: Jimmy (Georgina) Shipp and Harry (Cindy) Shipp; six grandchildren: Amanda, Jamie, Joe, Ryan, Erin and Sara; seven great-grandchildren: Connor, Chloie, Blaine, Theo, Tanner, Iris and Hanna. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter Barbara Ramey; sister Freida Hughes; brothers James Ritchie and Robert Ritchie. The funeral service will take place Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Kalkaska Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Watkins Hill Cemetery in New Richmond, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund, PO Box 59, Cincinnati, OH 45201.
