Virginia Belle Eves

Virginia Belle Eves, 86, passed away peacefully in Kalkaska, MI on October 7, 2022, surrounded by her family. Virginia was born October 25, 1935, in South Boardman, MI. She is the daughter of Mary Jane (Kirkendall) and Guy Reynolds Love. Virginia married Merle Mark Eves on September 1, 1956. She spent over 40 years married to the love of her life. Virginia graduated high school from Kalkaska High School. Following the marriage, Virginia was a homemaker at the beginning, until an injury to Merle in 1974 caused her to join the workforce. She volunteered a lot of her time as well, serving Kalkaska KAIR for over 20 years, and also volunteering for Garfield Township Fire & Rescue Auxiliary. Virginia just absolutely loved helping others, she was always the first to give the shirt off her own back. She was known by everyone simply as “mom”, she also served as the neighborhood grandmother. She was known to always have PB & J's for anyone in need of them, and also known for making the best potato salad. Virginia also had an open door policy for dinner, never turning anyone away from the table. Virginia and Merle were also quite the team, known as an inseparable duo, even though everyone knew Virginia was the boss over anything. She was a very caring and loving lady though, who never lacked for friends. Above all family came first, and was the most important thing to her, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia will be missed by all and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her sons Mark (Patty) Eves, and Timothy (Florence) Eves; daughters Laura Eves, and Susan (Jerry) Schlattman; sister-in-law Dorothy Love; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle Mark Eves; daughters Vickie (John) Teron, Loretta Eves; mother Mary Jane (Kirkendall) Love; father Guy Reynolds Love; sister Freda (Harry) Thorne; brothers Charles “Buck” Love, Guy Reynolds Love Jr., Eugene Love, and Dennis (Wilma) Love. The memorial service will be held at Kalkaska Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 3:00 pm, the family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
