Sharon Lee Sieting

Sharon Lee (Kimball) Sieting, 81, of Kalkaska, passed away quietly June 12th, 2024, at the Kalkaska Memorial Eden Center. Sharon was born October 6th 1942 to the late Clyde and Ruth (Weeks) Kimball in Jackson Michigan. Sharon's father was taken in a car crash when she was only 4 years old, leaving her and her sister Carol (Kimball) Booher to be raised by her mother Ruth and grandmother Myrtle Kimball. Times were tough during the early years and so the family moved to Bear Lake in Kalkaska in 1949 where she and her sister attended the 1 room school at the Blue Lake School located on County Rd 612. She loved to drive through the old neighborhood and point out the buildings and places that held the memories most dear. Spending time with the Dingman family drinking soda pop and spending cool summer evenings watching projector movies on the side of the building. She then attended Kalkaska High School where she graduated with the class of 1960. Sharon married Gayle Sieting in 1962 and began her life as a wife and mother of 3 children, living in Reed City and then moving to Saginaw where she lived until moving to California in 1982 with her husband Gayle and daughter Tammi. California was a new chapter in her life. Far from family and old friends, Sharon longed to be back home where life was slower and much quieter than the hustle and bustle of the big cities of California. And so after several years, she moved back to Reed City Michigan alone, where she met her 2nd husband William Gentz. This was the beginning of a new life she would truly enjoy. Living on a farm and attending church where she met some of her dearest and closest friends. Friendships that would continue throughout the remainder of her life. Sharon was deeply committed to her faith and applied it to every facet of her life. She was the prayer warrior for the family. After the passing of her husband Bill, she moved to Kalkaska to be closer to her sons Rob and Jeff. She settled into her new life and enjoyed the quiet of the place she truly called home until the time of her passing. Her love for her family and friends was second only to God. She is dearly loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Sharon is survived by her sister Carol (Kimball) Booher, daughter Tammi (Sieting)/ Ray Madrigal, son Jeff Sieting/ Amy (Prough) Sieting. Daughter Deb (Gentz) Rick Darragh, son Tim Gentz, son Bill Gentz Jr, daughter Judy (Gentz) Joslin along with a long list of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Clyde Kimball, mother Ruth (Weeks) Kimball, husband Gayle Sieting, husband William Gentz, and son Robert Sieting. Visitation will be held from 1pm-2pm on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Kalkaska Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2pm in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home with Pastor William Kuiper of Evergreen Bible Baptist Church presiding. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home.
