Richard Edmund Raudman

Richard E. Raudman (Dick), 84 of Kalkaska, passed away unexpectedly, June 21, 2024 at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. He was born on August 11, 1939., in Parkersburg, Iowa to the late Merle and Kathryn (Betty) Raudman. He is survived by his wife, Dorena (Seeley) Raudman; children Renee (John) Nelson, Shawn Raudman, and Tamara (Kevin) Greene; granddaughter Noelle Greene; Valerie (Dale) Thornburg, grandson Dustin Dimon; Dick’s siblings Karen (Pat) Stuck, Wendall “Sandy” (Sue) Raudman; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy Kiel. Richard graduated high School in Constantine, MI, then attended college at Tri-State in Angola IN & Mich Tech in Houghton, MI. He met his “forever woman” at a grange hall dance in South Boardman, in 1961. They were married March 16, 1962 in Kalkaska at the Peoples Church, and they never stopped dancing! Richard was instrumental in starting the Kalkaska IDC & was president of it for several years. He was a former trustee of Kalkaska Twp. Board, volunteered his equipment & skills to improve the Kalkaska community airport, was involved in the development of Kalkaska’s Industrial Parks & bringing industry & retail into the community. He also was a real estate broker for many years. In the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s, Dick & Dorena developed two residential subdivisions; Plaza Woods & Log Lake Estates and a commercial shopping center known as, Raudman’s Northland Plaza at the corner of US131 & M72. Dick loved his family most of all, but his friends, fishing, hunting, dancing, playing cards, music & fireworks at his home on Log Lake, all came in a close second… Every winter, after retirement he loved going to their Florida home near Port Charlotte to be with his golfing buddies & a whole other set of friends. Dick was a man of few words so he would probably think this write-up, is way too long. The service will be held July 6th at the Kalkaska Funeral Home located at 152 S. Cedar St., Kalkaska, MI 49646. Visitation will start at 10:00 am, Service at 11:00.
