Lynda Mae Cook

Lynda Mae Cook of Mancelona, completed her earthly duties on March 4th, 2025, and was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. Lynda was born on July 2nd, 1938, to Charles and Junetta Stuart in Detroit, Michigan. While in high school, she would meet the love of her life, Lawrence Cook by being best friends with his Mary Ann Cook – Lenhardt. The two would unite on July 14th, 1956, and be married for 62 years until Lawrence’s passing on April 18th, 2019. In 1968, they would move to the home they built on Dunham Lake, in Hartland, Michigan. Lynda would attend Our Savior Lutheran Church and was a Sunday School teacher for 5 years. Lynda loved to travel, her most memorable trips were going to England and taking the grandchildren to Disney World. Making sure that she rode “It’s A Small World” at least 2 times while there. In 1999, Lynda and Larry would relocate for the final time to their up north property in Mancelona and build a home that suited them for their golden years. Lynda was an active member of TOPPS of Kalkaska and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. She would start attending Pathway Community Church in 2022 and became a member in 2023, where she felt that she had finally found her church family. She enjoyed going out to eat, her favorite places were Big Boy and Culver’s. She loved to read, crochet, make tie blankets, play cards, watch Hallmark Christmas movies even in the middle of summer and most of all spend time with family. Lynda was a loving mom to Pamela Weber, who preceded her in death in 2007, Mark Cook, who preceded her in death in 2019, and James (Rebecca) Cook who reside in Mancelona, Michigan. She would be a one of a kind grandma to Christopher (Lori) Eve of Waterford, Michigan; Jerry Cook of Tennessee; Robert (Natasha) Cook of Mancelona, Michigan; Lawrence (Heather) Cook of Saginaw, Michigan, Nicole (Allen) Musall of Mancelona, Michigan; Stephanie (Kenn) of Michigan; James (Brittany) of Elmira, Michigan; and Shania (Zac) Bell of Kalkaska, Michigan. She would also be a caring great grandma to Christopher, Savannah, Sydney, Mason, Cheyenne, Madison, Jerry Jr., Annabelle, Haley, Karter, Karson, Starrlynn, Makayla, Braden, Breyanah, Colton, Kyleigh, Emberlee, Michael, Kaydon, Hunter, Niro, and Rugnara. She is also survived by great grandchildren as well. She had the title of being an older sister to Paul Stuart, who resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She also leaves behind her best friend and sister in law, MaryAnn Lenhardt, who resides in Milford, Michigan. She was also an honorary grandma to Ashley, Daniel and Lilly Morey of Elmira, Michigan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank – Dr. Chris Loewen of Charlevoix, Dr. Kristin Maurice, Kori Woodruff and the Traverse City Heart Failure staff for the caring and compassion that you showed Lynda in her care. She always felt like she was a family member and not just a patient. Also a deep appreciation to Munson Hospice of Traverse City for the gentle kindness that you showed her in her last days of her life. It was very heartfelt. Thank you also to Pastor Grimes and the entire congregation of Pathway Community Church for all the prayers that you showered her with over the years. Please join Lynda’s family on March 15th, at the Kalkaska Funeral Home, located at 152 South Cedar Street, Kalkaska, Michigan for visitation from 1:00 PM till the time of service at 3:00 PM. Pastor Daniel Grimes will officiate. Lynda will be laid to rest in the spring of 2025 in a private family service in Fairview Cemetery, located in Mancelona, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pathway Community Church Children’s Ministry in Lynda’s memory. “Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.” Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
