Gerald "Jerry" Lee Crim

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Crim passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2022. Gerald was born September 14,1939 the son of the late Carl and Margaret Crim of Henderson, He met his high school sweetheart Betty Hunt (Crim) who survives him. They were united in marriage on September 20,1959. She was the love of his life,in the 62 years of marriage they raised 4 children, who survive him, Timothy (Betty) Crim, Gregory Crim, Denny (Julie) Crim, Tonja (Christopher) Ellis. His sister, Peggy Saylers, brother David Dummond, brother-In-law Ronald Jones, sister-in- laws, Patricia Crim, Barb Svarc, Peggy Busci, and many nieces and nephews who also are survived by him. Jerry was blessed with 4 grandchildren Nicholas Crim, Jessica Kelley, Dan Jackie Tomlinson and Joel Tomlinson, he loved to spoil them all. He was then blessed by great grandchildren, Richard and Jessica Held, Shelby and Kevin Maurer, Skyler Tomlinson, Brooke Tomlinson, MacKenzie Bean, Alexis Tomlinson, Caleb, Makayla & Emma Kelley. Then came the great great grandkids, Emerson, Oliver, Griffin, Adalyn,Avery, & Amelia. He started working at the age of 14 at Sundquist Creamery in Henderson MI. After 30 years at Globe Union-Johnson Controls he retired and moved up north to the family cabin which is now their homestead in Fife Lake MI. Before he truly retired he worked for Mike Anton in Traverse City. Jerry was very active and a role model in 4-H woodworking and a softball coach, (YMCA) Indian Guides and Princesses & Owosso Sports Boosters. He was a pioneer member of the Volunteer Owosso Township Rescue,where he served for 17 years and received the nickname, Johnny. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, “camping” especially when the air mattresses deflated, playing cards and doing word searches and puzzles. If you knew him you knew he loved cheering on the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers. He was a member of the United Methodist Churches, Henderson and Fife Lake where he served them both for many years. He was active in the Masons’ of the Carl G Cornett Lodge NO.347 F & AM, Manton, MI. Jerry was recently named Mason of the Year in 2020. Was currently serving as Sr Deacon. Jerry was predeceased by parents, sisters Eva and Carol, brothers Bert and Clare and one great grandchild, CJ. A memorial service will take place at Fife Lake United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM until the time of service. An additional service will take place at the home of Tim and Betty in Henderson, MI on July 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to the Fife Lake United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
